About Us

So who are we? Well we are just your average family, we love, we work, we play…sometimes argue and we live with diabetes. Not just in our home, but in our extended family as well. There is absolutely nothing unique about us that sets us apart from you.

And now we have the opportunity to meet and get to know each other. Oh I know how completely impersonal a website can be, it’s not like sitting down and having coffee and a great chat. But this forum is what we have, and to be personal, you got to know that you and I are no different and we do have a few things in common. We either are diabetic or love someone who is diabetic, and most know someone who is diabetic. So it is a little more personal, there is commonality. Therefore we extend our invitation to you to take sometime and look around.

I am the mother of a handsome and intelligent 18 year old young man (yes, I am bragging) now, I worry endlessly about him everyday. More now to say the least, then when he was not diabetic. With one year under our belts, the honeymoon phase, the nutrition phase, the “oh don’t forget your needles” as we are on our way out the door phase, we have now proudly passed the “shell shock phase”.

It has been a long year, so much to digest and learn and wow, adapting to absolutely everything it entails to meet the needs of just his getting through the day! Shift work (how about eating and injecting on 10 hour shifts with only 15 minute breaks)
poor thing.

Can’t forget catching a cold for the first time, yikes!, and of course, not remembering that taking your insulin kit everywhere is necessary and lows can come on pretty darn fast . (And they always seem to happen when I am just looking at the sweetest pair of shoes.) Well I could go on, but I think you get the point…its life altering. So not that he will get it perfect every time, but it is now a part of who we are, not what we are…I so hate labels.

Anyway, moving on, my son loves his computer and as far as I’m concerned is quite brilliant at doing all these great maneuvers from screen to screen to Photoshop. So since I don’t run marathons or do charity work, I thought the very best way
I could support him was to lend a hand when he asked if he could do a site, or blog , or forum..
(I still am in the dark ages re: technology) So here we are. And I have to say that it is enjoyable, I no longer just nag him about his
eating and sleeping and prodding for glucose levels. We now have an unfolding vision to connect with you
and share information on all diabetes types, topics and really just whatever! And FYI, I am not a professional writer so if my grammar ain’t so good and I forget to put in the comma in the exact right spot,
I am sorry, but I can guarantee that if you stopped by for a cup of coffee, you just might notice that there is a little dust on my coffee table! So it’s sorta the same here.
Welcome and we sincerely wish you an enjoyable stay.

Curtis and Christine.

Waving to my Uncle Don (Type One) Uncle Alan (Hypoglycemic) and Uncle Albert (Type One) …and Gramma…who I swear is Pre-Diabetic. What a bunch we are!!!!!
